Geography
Geography at Holsworthy Community College helps students explore the world around them — from local landscapes to global challenges. Through physical and human geography, students develop analytical skills, environmental awareness, and a deeper understanding of how people interact with their surroundings.
Our curriculum plans for Years 7–11 encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and informed citizenship, preparing students for further study and real-world decision-making.
Geography – Inclusive Practice
Inclusive practice in Geography ensures students can access learning about people, places, and processes through clear explanations and structured support.
Examples of Adapt in Practice in Geography Lessons:
· Key geographical vocabulary is taught explicitly and revisited regularly.
· Regular checking in on comprehension using mini-white boards to support.
· Structure retrieval tasks to ensure that students can recall key events, processes and concepts.
· Teachers model written answers and paragraph structures.
· Visual resources support understanding of processes and places.
· Clear success criteria support independent practice.
· Teachers check understanding frequently and adapt support where needed.
