Mathematics

Mathematics at Holsworthy Community College develops logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and numerical fluency. Our curriculum is designed to help students understand mathematical concepts, apply them in real-life contexts, and build confidence in tackling challenges. From algebra and geometry to statistics and reasoning, students are supported to achieve their full potential.

Curriculum plans for Years 7–11 provide a clear progression and prepare students for further study and future careers where maths plays a key role

 Mathematics – Inclusive Practice

Inclusive practice in Mathematics promote clarity in our subject and support confidence by using clear routines and consistent modelling. Lessons are structured to support memory, organisation, and independent problem-solving.

Examples of Adapt in Practice in Maths Lessons:

· Teachers model carefully sequenced, worked examples using a consistent method.

· Students show full workings to help organise thinking and reduce memory load.

· Mini whiteboards are used as a low-stakes opportunity to try ideas.

· Teachers give immediate feedback and reassurance.

· End-of-topic reviews focus on small, achievable next steps.
