Music
Music at Holsworthy Community College nurtures creativity, confidence, and collaboration. Students explore performance, composition, and musical theory while developing their listening and analytical skills. Our curriculum celebrates a wide range of musical styles and cultures, encouraging students to express themselves and appreciate the role of music in society.
Curriculum plans for Years 7–11 support progression in practical and theoretical music, preparing students for further study and lifelong enjoyment.
Music – Inclusive Practice
Inclusive practice in Music supports creative expression through clear guidance and supportive routines.
Examples of Adapt in Practice in Music Lessons:
· Teachers model musical skills and expectations.
· Vocabulary is reinforced regularly.
· Mini whiteboards check understanding.
· Guidance is provided during practical tasks.
· Confidence and enjoyment are prioritised.
· Regular check ins on student skills with small bespoke guidance throughout the lessons to ensure that students can identify their success
· Consideration of seating and sensory input – use of headphones etc. to support sensory needs within the music room.
