Design Technology
Design Technology at Holsworthy Community College encourages innovation, creativity, and practical problem-solving. Students explore materials, tools, and processes to design and make products that are functional, sustainable, and user-focused. The curriculum promotes independent thinking, technical skills, and an understanding of design in everyday life.
Curriculum plans for Years 7–11 support progression in areas such as product design, engineering, and textiles, preparing students for further study and careers in creative and technical industries.

Inclusive practice in Design & Technology prioritises safety, clarity, and confidence in practical learning ensuring that all students can be part of these dynamic learning environment.
Examples of Adapt in Practice in DT Lessons:
· Teachers clearly demonstrate tools, techniques, and processes.
· Technical vocabulary and material properties are revisited regularly.
· Tasks are broken into structured stages.
· Close supervision ensures safety and success.
· Support is gradually reduced as independence develops.
